Lifetime Deluxe Freestanding A-Frame Swing Set (Earthtone) ReviewI purchased this swing set because it was advertised as "heavy duty," and indeed it is - much more than the flimsy models you get at WalMart, etc. Also, the two previous backyard sets were made of wood and in the Florida weather, they lasted less than 8 years each. This set is heavy as advertised and takes a lot of muscle to horse the pieces around to get it put together. I'm 73 years old and in relatively good shape, but trying to get some of the holes lined up for the bolts was a challenge. Still, everything worked fine and all hardware was present and accounted for.
The only quibble I have with the set is the video advertising. It showed kids swinging on this set without anchors of any kind and indicated that the set was more or less portable and could be moved around. WRONG! When you have two kids swinging vigorously on the set it begins to buck up on its hind legs then front. Obviously in need of anchoring. I first placed 4 12-inch screw anchors into the ground and even so, the legs still pulled an inch or so from the ground when swinging high. So, I removed them and re-installed 30-in screw anchors - which did the job. Now the swing set doesn't "buck" or "walk," but stays all four legs firmly on the ground.
I also found out through experimentation, that you can attach one of those infant bucket seats from swing sets by putting its hooks through the chain just below the swinging acrobatic bar in the middle and it makes a wonderful third swing for a small child and is easily removed when kids want to use the acrobat bar and handles.
With all the rain we get, I'm hoping it will live up to its "no rust" adversiting. Otherwise, I have four granddaughters, their mother, and their grandmother (my wife) who are very pleased with this swing set, so that makes me pleased as well.Lifetime Deluxe Freestanding A-Frame Swing Set (Earthtone) Overview
