Actress: Unauthorized Memoirs of a Hollywood Slave ReviewActress is written in a first-person memoir-styled voice. The author's stance that her recollections come from real experience is probably exaggerated but I'm not sure if it matters. The depiction of the innocent actress coming to Hollywood and being naively sucked into a male-dominated celebrity con-job in right on. It reminds me a bit of an erotic, though tamer, version of Less Than Zero. There are also passages that seem to come straight from John Gregory Dunne's "The Studio", particularly the depiction of actresses as being pure image whose acting ability has little to do with their potential for screen success.
Bottom line, there is some great submissive female-Alpha male power play in this book. The sex is either straight domination or overwhelming kink frenzy. It is worth the read and is probably more compelling than Story of O these days as its much more contemporary. Don't expect to be shown the inner-workings of Hollywood. This is told purely from the perspective of the actress as she slowly descends into the world of film biz Domination. There are elements that are smart and at times it seems like the author is outright mocking the power lovers she submits to. it plays a fine line, but in the end, it's the vivid erotic descriptions and explicit sex that take hold of the reader.Actress: Unauthorized Memoirs of a Hollywood Slave Overview
