Death, Drugs, and Muscle ReviewI've picked up some issues of Muscular Development and read Gregg's "ALL CAPS" columns. Additionally, I had seen the TLC feature on Gregg Valentino titled, "The Man Who's Arms Exploded." Ultimately, I expected something entirely different than I got when I cracked open this book. I expected some boisterous, self-praising nonsense intermingled with a few funny stories that, if I were lucky, would make the book worth its $12. Well, I was wrong.
This book is deep and well-written. You go on an emotional roller coaster with Valentino and after shaking your head at his wrong choices, you find yourself in a bit of amazement that he actually admits his mistakes. Further, you find yourself cheering for him because he seems to be proof you can rehabilitate. To see a guy go from underground drug dealer on the streets of New York, to sitting in a jail cell, and back out and onto movie screens and worldwide fame, and hear it in his voice... it's impressive.
I've never in my life read the same book twice, but I think I'm going to make an exception for this one.Death, Drugs, and Muscle Overview
