LeapFrog LeapStages™ Infant Learning System ReviewThis toy was shipped to us without the second, third and fourth stage cards. Because it is a new product, Leapfrog has no "replacement parts" and so can't send me the rest of the stages. Nor will they send me a replacement. You might want to buy it in a store where you can open the box to make sure it's all there.LeapFrog LeapStages™ Infant Learning System OverviewChoose from four learning screens that advance as your baby grows. Leveled learning allows you to encourage and reward your baby at every stage by choosing from the four learning screens: Classical Connections, Baby Senses, Word Play and Learning Songs. Each learning screen provides your little one with an engaging, age-appropriate way to explore and develop new skills. The system easily transforms as your baby learns and grows, and features a timed setting that plays up to 15 minutes of soothing classical music. Requires 4 "AA" batteries (not included).

Learning Resources Math Mat Challenge Game ReviewI am the mother of a very hyper 5 year old boy soon to be entering kindergarden. It has been very difficult and expensive to try and find ways to teach him without boring or frustrating him. I have bought many electronical educational toys and I'd have to say this is about the best one so far to date. I have many leappad products and while they are great in theory, they are not for my hyper child that just wants to "play" and not sit down with some reading pad or talking phonic treehouse. The only time he will sit for a period of time to learn is with his computer games.
I think this is so good for my son because he is hyper and it allows for and even encourages movement. Yet, this toy also requires listening and focused attention. Due to the latter fact, I will admit that at first it seemed like another waste of money. He was getting frustrated because he wasn't getting the right answers and didn't want to play. My son does not know all his #'s and that was my main purpose for buying this item. I did figure out the best way for him was to deivide up the #'s between us. He got the 0-5 and I took 6-10. It's been less than a week and he has almost mastered his side. All in only 10-15 mins of play each day. The fact that he will still play it is a major thrill for me. It's fun factor also comes from it being sort of a timed game so that after each correct answer its ticking will speed up and once time is up it will tell you how many you got correct. We have the highest score possible on the #'s and he is almost as proud as I am.
There are 2 levels and 3 activities: Numbers, addition and subtraction. We are just on numbers but once he learns all of them (my side and his)I know this will be a great way to help him with adding and subtracting as well. There are also some really great suggestions as for other ways to play using the mat included.
So as long as it holds up I'd have to say it's a wonderful toy and not just in theory.Learning Resources Math Mat Challenge Game OverviewThink quick and move fast! This interactive talking floor mat with fast and crazy quiz games makes learning math fun. Kids listen to the equation, do the math and then step on the right answer. The game gets faster as their scores get higher. Features six different games and two skill levels to reinforce numbers, counting, addition and subtraction up to the number 20. Great for classroom use. Mat measures 34 inches in diameter. Requires 3 "AA" alkaline batteries (not included).

Vtech - 3-in-1 Learning Zebra Scooter ReviewGrandma and Grandpa delivered the Zebra Scooter to our 28-month-old grandson this past weekend. I (Grandpa) could hardly put it together since he was so excited about the scooter. Would the excitement last? After screwing on the wheel and securing the seat, he was off! He rode it around the house and outside. We took it to the park and he rode down the hill. He kept saying 'I love this'. And he certainly proved that. The scooter is a 'cute' design.... I think it looks more like a cow. It is well-made, and did not scratch or mar the wood floors. Technologically, it was more advanced than I thought it would be. There are 3 different attachments that plug in to the top of the zebra head: a compass, flashlight, and walkie-talkie. These attachments will 'program' the toy to give different responses when the lighted buttons are pushed. Yes, this toy does speak and play music. The parents were going to put some tape over the speaker to mute it, but I didn't find the sounds intrusive, even while we watched football on TV. The speaker has a loud and soft setting, and the music and voices are pleasant enough. I didn't get a chance to listen to all the messages, because our grandson 'claimed' this toy and was energized by it. The 3 different modes of the scooter are really inventive. The basic, seat-down position is his favorite, as he can scoot around all day on it that way. The seat can be raised a bit for another position, which is used to push the scooter. He was also able to sit on it in this mode, sort of like an Easy Rider position. The third position is the standup scooter. He is a bit young for this, but took the challenge, and managed to scoot around with some help. His Mom and Dad said the toy was a hit, and we got our share of 'I love you's' from our grandson.
Congrats to V Tech for making a neat toy for young kids. This is a perfect gift that should get a lot of use.Vtech - 3-in-1 Learning Zebra Scooter Overview
