Actress: Unauthorized Memoirs of a Hollywood Slave ReviewActress is written in a first-person memoir-styled voice. The author's stance that her recollections come from real experience is probably exaggerated but I'm not sure if it matters. The depiction of the innocent actress coming to Hollywood and being naively sucked into a male-dominated celebrity con-job in right on. It reminds me a bit of an erotic, though tamer, version of Less Than Zero. There are also passages that seem to come straight from John Gregory Dunne's "The Studio", particularly the depiction of actresses as being pure image whose acting ability has little to do with their potential for screen success.
Bottom line, there is some great submissive female-Alpha male power play in this book. The sex is either straight domination or overwhelming kink frenzy. It is worth the read and is probably more compelling than Story of O these days as its much more contemporary. Don't expect to be shown the inner-workings of Hollywood. This is told purely from the perspective of the actress as she slowly descends into the world of film biz Domination. There are elements that are smart and at times it seems like the author is outright mocking the power lovers she submits to. it plays a fine line, but in the end, it's the vivid erotic descriptions and explicit sex that take hold of the reader.Actress: Unauthorized Memoirs of a Hollywood Slave Overview

Body By Night ReviewBody by Night by Zuri Day is an excellent story about a plus size gal, D'Andra Smalls, and her quest to live a healthier life after an emergency room scare. She decides to go to Bally's but of course she starts having second thoughts and is sitting in her car debating whether or not to enter when this tall drink of chocolate comes up to her and convinces her to go on in. Night is a personal trainer who's working on opening up his own gym. He just got out of a bad relationship and is not necessarily looking for a new one when he finds this beautiful, woman in her car waiting to go inside. She's not his usual supermodel looking type, but he decides to help her out on her quest to be healthy and in the process, falls for her.
D'Andra has her issues with men, especially after finding her childhood friend in bed with her boyfriend and having a mother and sister who treat her like Cinderella before she meets her fairy godmother. Although she tries to keep herself from falling for Night, she does anyway. But they still have to deal with his conniving ex, her selfish sister, her emotionally abusive mother and all kinds of stuff.
This is an excellent book! I love that D'Andra's reasons for loosing weight had nothing to do with being a size 2 but with being healthy. That's a much more positive message. And Night was fabulous. He had his own issues to work through and he wasn't looking for romance any more than she was. But romance found them where they least expected it. If you want a good, emotionally satisfying read, pick up Body by Night by Zuri Day.Body By Night Overview

One-Two Punch ReviewFor nearly a month, Beth has been lusting after Mr. Lovely-Ass through the glass window of the gym she passes on her way to and from work. Beth finally works up the courage to approach him, under the pretense of wanting boxing lessons, and he is even more perfect up close.

As the trio struggle to work things out, an external force has its sights set on Beth.
Ms. Allen scored a knock-out with One-Two Punch. Beth and Harry were on fire for each other but it was Ky who I fell in love with immediately. Nothing gets to me like a tortured hero and Ky had that in spades. Beth was the perfect answer for both Ky and Harry. She knew exactly what each of her men needed and Beth delivered. Then when the time came, Ky and Harry took care of her.
One-Two Punch was filled with sizzling sex, angst and intrigue. I loved this story and I'm sure you will too so I am Joyfully Recommending it to you.

Getting Intimate (Getting Together) ReviewVictoria Blisse was one of the first erotic writers I found through twitter, so we have occasionally tweeted at each other since about November, and in that time I had a chance to look over a couple of her short stories and stories in progress. I really loved her subject, in most cases the everyday, average, BBW, so she was always on My wish list of writers I wanted to read, and I even went as far as to tell her that Getting Intimate was on My wish list once I had some spare cash. So it goes without saying that it was one of the first things that I downloaded to My new Kindle once I got it home.
I did not know until I started reading that Getting Intimate was the second book in a series called Getting Together, the first being Getting Physical, but it does not detract from the reading experience, and it is fairly easy to catch up. Getting Together is the story of John and Terri, and handsome but insecure man and a similarly insecure BBW, who meet while working out at the gym. The first book relates their initial meeting, and in the second book things are getting a little rocky.
What makes Getting Intimate such a great read is the fact that I think anyone who picks it up can relate to the thoughts and emotions of both characters. The story alternates from both of their view points in first person. Through a series of of misunderstandings the couple comes close to breaking things off, and as in real life the misunderstandings are amplified out of proportion due to their insecurities.
A bonus for Me was that Terri and John play out a little proto-BDSM scene where there is experimenting and switching of roles going on, all teasingly and respectfully done. (Oh, Victoria, I had no idea....LOL).
If you love hot sex and hot romance in which the characters seem real and are not a bunch of ultra-confident supermodels then Getting Intimate and I am sure the other books in the series for you. Victoria let Me know that there is one more final book coming to complete the series to which I questioned, "Why stop there?" She admitted the she really liked Terri and John, so there was still the possibility she might not be done with them after three stories, and I have to say after reading Getting Intimate I sure hope not. Now Getting Physical and the forthcoming sequel are on My wish list, as well as another story, Reluctant Muse.
Of course Victoria has quite the catalogue, which is enough to keep Me busy for a while, however she's still so good that I just have to say, Keep 'Em Cuming!
Getting Intimate (Getting Together) OverviewJohn and Terri have been dating for six months now, and John is anxious to commemorate this special anniversary. As much as Terri loves the time she spends with John, she still can't shake her negative self-worth. When a series of misunderstandings drives the two apart, it's up to John to convince the woman he loves that she's the only one with whom he wants to be intimate.
