Becoming a Personal Trainer For Dummies ReviewI have been a personal trainer for nearly two years and I thought I had a handle on everything. I was given this book as a gift and I was blown away with the comprehensive information that it provides. I learned the most from the True Stories sections as they provided extra tips and really expanded upon the knowledge contained in this book. I would highly recommend this book to anyone thinking about becoming a personal trainer and encourage current personal trainers to read it as well. I liked that its started off with what makes a successful personal trainer on an individual basis before jumping into how to start and operate a successful business. It even gave examples of dialogue between trainer and clients. I think anyone who reads this book will pick up a few tips on how to improve themselves as a trainer, making this a good book to read even if you don't end up running your own business.
Another thing that I like about this book is that it's a great resource for institutions where once can gain certification in a variety of fitness areas. I also liked that it gives realistic marketing ideas like creating published advertisements and even blogging.
If you are considering starting a personal training business, this book is a great place to start.

I was doing what was wrong with most gyms and trying to make it work. This book has given me a new perspective and by implementing just a few of the suggestions in this book, things are already turning around. My next 6 months should be very interesting. There is a lot of general talk about starting a gym, but no statistics of any kind, no surveys, no hard-facts backed up by studies, no examples of business plans, obtaining financing, examples of successful gym cash flow statements, etc. More or less, this is of the quality of a high-school term paper.
