Reclaim Your Youth: Growing Younger After 40: You Really Can Turn Back The Clock ReviewI bought the book from glancing at the "look inside" on Amazon. Seemed reasonable and because of the title I thought it would have some interesting tidbits for older athletes trying to be their best.
There isn't any of that in the book. Its written more like a series of tired comments from a personal trainer strung together to form a book. If you're a couch potato or finding it hard to be motivated to walk around the block then there could be value in this book. I'm afraid that there are other books that do the task better with greater details and better writing. Think "The New Book of Lifting" or something like that for better direction. The author also cites no references on all of his claims or pronouncements. On any of his medical statements and most of his workout ones he should have cited references. This book is like chewing the fat with some guy at the juice bar at your gym. You don't know if his advice is sound or if he's making stuff up.
Besides content I found that the grammar and tone grating. That is a personal observation but it made it difficult to finish. Also why can't the author smile in any of his photos? He never looks like he is enjoying himself so why follow in his footsteps.
I would have given it a single star but there were a few random ideas that were useful so it wasn't a complete waste. Read the table of contents and the online portion carefully to determine if the book is appropriate for you. I lift, play league tennis, do pilates and yoga every week and if you too are very active then you might not find much here.
