SoftSpot Portable Play Mat ReviewThis is my #1 must-have item for baby. We live overseas where the floors are predominantly tile/marble. I was on the lookout for a cushy solution for my wobbly sitting, tummy time hating 3 month old. The SoftSpot has provided a safe, comfortable area for baby to play, take the occasional nap, and practice new tricks like sitting/rolling/creeping.Design: Easy to fold/store, easy to take to play group, easy to clean (also the cover, sold separately, has remained soft despite many, many washings), good cushion even for harder falls, firm enough to learn how to creep/crawl.
For mom: Freedom! When I sit baby down on SoftSpot (supported with boppy pillow) I know she is safe, comfortable and happy. I am freed up from always being an arms length away to catch any falls. We recently took it on vacation with us and it was a godsend. I could enjoy sitting at the "adult" table without a fussing baby in my lap because she was happily situated right next to us on the floor playing away.
For baby: She knows that this is "her" place so when we move locations, she is on familiar ground so to speak. Also, it's nice solution for spending time outside, especially if there is little green space. When there is green space, it's nice to have a portable way to put her in a shady spot or keep her comfortably close to us.
The only downside is the cost. I think a lot of families would love this item but find it cost prohibitive. I probably would not have considered spending so much if our floors weren't so hard and unforgiving.SoftSpot Portable Play Mat Overview
